Before electricity, before indoor plumbing, before air conditioning, she added.  Her father worked in a mine. Now an octagenerian, she said she would not want to live anywhere else. There is a beauty to the desert and she appreciates that, and so do we.

The bluegrass plays through today. Their third annual show has been a success. We were treated to a barbecue buffet and informal concert Saturday night. That was a nice treat from our host. Thank you.

Logandale Bluegrass Festival

Opalite and pewter pendant that Sherry recently made.

Faint guitar music drifted across the fairgrounds last night. Bluegrass lends itself to informal groups that spring up spontaneously and can play for hours. Dozens of RV’s with musicians, vendors and festival goers have arrived and the show starts late this afternoon. We are here in Logandale for the third annual Bluegrass Fall Festival that runs through Sunday. Less than an hour from Vegas, here at the Clark County Fairgrounds, it is a good setting for the show.

Kriptonite vs Kyanite

“Look, Kryptonite,” the young boy exclaimed, misreading the label for the kyanite. Kyanite gets its striking blue color from aluminum, but can also be green or blue green.

Kyanite was mined for its insulating properties and used in ceramics. Metaphysical properties include channeling and clarity of thought. It’s pretty sky blue makes it popular for jewelry. Superman has no fear of this crystal and they would make a great gift for Lois Lane.

Today the show wraps up in Pahrump. Next week bluegrass music in Logan dale, Nevada.
