The game of chess originated in Asia, probably in China, about nine thousand years ago.  The shape, name and movement of the pieces have changed over the centuries with its migration into Europe.  This set is made of Evershine Pewter with each piece adorned with faceted crystals.  It has a Medieval theme and includes wizards and dragons.  More information and some individual piece pictures at Pewter Chess Set.  We are happy to add this set to our collection.

We wrap up here in Quartzsite at the Gold show.  It has been a fun event meeting new people and learning so much about gold prospecting.

It is fun to see them detonate explosives and blow up those boulders.  Okay, it was very safe, not that big of an explosion, but still cool.  I guess our post title is a bit of an exaggeration.  But, Sherry has some cool new mining and western themed pieces.  We are having fun, again, here in Quartzsite.  Hope your weekend is fun, too.
