We passed through the Mojave National Preserve today on our way to Goodsprings, Nevada. The preserve, at 1.6 million acres, is just a small part of the Mojave Deser. Hundreds of different plants and animals, basins, mountains, ancient cultures and modern man, create the most diverse of America’s four deserts. Needless to say, this is a special place for us.
We hope to explore more of the Mojave around Goodsprings this week before our show at the Pioneer Saloon this weekend.
Columbus Day helps make this a long weekend for many. What better way to celebrate the spirit of adventure and discovery than to get out and explore. Hope to see you there.
The wind flipped over the tables and merchandise went crashing. Gusts up to fifty mph hit late morning Sunday. One of the casualties of an outdoor show in the high desert. Family, friends and customers came to the rescue.
The show in Joshua Tree was the best ever, regardless of the wind. A big thank you to Wayne and the rest of the JT Sportmens club staff.
We are spending an extra day of R&R here and to see some friends. Then off to Goodsprings, Nevada and the Pioneer Saloon.
The petrified wood pendant gets its colors from trace minerals, such as iron, present when the fossil wood was formed.
Handing out the free flag with every purchase has evoked some interesting discussion. Older people are thankful and eager to admit they are registered and will vote. Millenials, the 18 – 34, group, not as many. After pointing out some major ballot issues in California, such as the death penalty and recreational marijuana, they change their attitude.
It’s not just about Clinton or Trump. It’s about exercising your right to vote and being a part of America. Register, get out and vote.
We are having a fun time here at the Gem and Mineral show in Joshua Tree, that runs through Sunday. Today the Open Air Market joins the show. Hope to see you here.
Oh, and don’t forget your free window flag.
