A Christmas Story for 2021
Joseph picked up his family and ran for their lives to escape King Herod’s murderous plot. The wise men, after visiting Jesus, (now about age two, a toddler) returned to their own country instead of returning to Herod, no doubt they were wise men indeed. Having been mocked by the wise men, Herod ordered the death of all children age two years and younger. Joseph fled to Egypt where he lived for about three years, with Mary, Jesus and their other children before returning to Israel. *
Anxiety and stress seem to be the cry of most people we know. These past two years may not have been a “run for your life” experience, but stressful none the less.
Jesus said we need to come to God as “little children,” with an innocent heart, free of judgment and condemnation, with an attitude of repentance. Jesus tells us the life of a Christian is not burdensome or difficult. He offers us His friendship and the gift of eternal life. He promises us peace that goes beyond human understanding.
The Christ Child, Jesus, a little child, trusted his father, Joseph to keep them safe and to take care of them, which Joseph did. We also can trust God to take care of us and keep us safe, coming to Him as “little children.”
Our prayer beyond the miraculous healing that we ask for so many ill at this time is one of peace. That you may embrace the peace of God in this time of stress and anxiety.
May your Christmas and New Year be blessed.
With all our love,
Sherry and Tim.
