It is a CFMS Show – California Federation of Mineral Societies. That is a long title for a group of clubs, or societies that get together every year to promote the hobby of rock hounding, gem and mineral collecting, lapidary, earth sciences and more. They sponsor activities that include education and scholarships. This show will include competition cases in which individuals that are members of CFMS clubs may enter minerals, lapidary jewelry and other related items for competition. You will see the best of the best hear.
It is going to be warm and it is often windy, so it is nice to report that the show is indoors. The admission is FREE and the parking is FREE. That is becoming rare for many events in California these days.
The show is at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster, Saturday and Sunday, May 10-11, Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 10-4. This is Mother’s Day weekend, and the show has fallen on Mother’s Day before and has enjoyed a good turn out.
Hosted by the Antelope Gem and Mineral Club every year. You will find gems, minerals, crystals, rough rock, slabs, jewelry, cabachons and of course, Sherry’s beautiful glass art!
