Historic Owl Cafe, Red Mountain, California

Allow me to introduce the new owners of the Historic Owl Café, Danny and his wife, Arlene.  Along US 395, just south of Ridgecrest, is the Rand Mining District, responsible for historic mines of silver, gold, and tungsten ores.  Three towns: Johannesburg, Randsburg and Red Mountain make up this area.  Ghost towns that are not quite dead yet!  The Owl Café is in what was the thriving town of Red Mountain.

A step into the owl Café is a step back in time.  You are greeted by Owner Danny, dressed in period costume.  The Café is now a museum, store and source of a cold beverage and snacks.  His friendly demeanor and wealth of historical information is impressive.  Their website, RedMtnKellySilver.com has more information.

Plan a stop the next time you plan to travel along the US 395 or plan the Rand Mining District and the Owl Café as trip unto itself.

Today begins our show, here in Bridgeport, California. A little town that explodes into maintown USA for our countries birthday.
