The rainbow of colors is created by trace metals dissolved in the silica that replace the wood fibers of this rock called Petrified Wood, fossil wood about 200 million years old.  We hiked through this “Petrified Forest” of fossil wood in Escalante Petrified Forest State Park recently.  We are enjoying our travels and hope your week is blessed.
