Working with your hands brings a great sense of accomplishment, excitement and peace.  It is a blessing for Sherry and I to share these interests together.  We have a lot of fun.

Most of the shows we do are art and/or craft shows for non-profit groups raising money for the arts or other related programs.  The gem and mineral shows are usually hosted by a local gem and mineral society as a fund-raiser, to promote our hobby to the public and provide activities for fellow rockhounds.  We enjoy showing our art and seeing the creativity of others.

The 41st annual gem and mineral show this week at the Joshua Tree Sportsmen’s Club is a big deal for the High Desert.  The event is co-hosted by the High Desert Rockhounds.  This show will feature many artists with handcrafted jewelry and other lapidary related items.  Vendors will also have rough rock, gemstones and a variety of items related to our hobby.  The show runs five days, Wednesday through Sunday, Sept. 28 to Oct. 2.  And, the proceeds go to the local community.  Hope to see you there.
